I recently learned that instead of staying in Lake Placid and training until US Nationals in two weeks in Ft. Kent, Maine, I would be traveling to compete in the World Cup in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I have never raced in a World Cup, and to have my first be at the 2010 Olympic venue makes this opportunity extra special. I am more than ready to race at this level and see what I can do. I feel like this is the perfect time and place to make something happen. I can't wait!
Hopefully my success on the same courses last year transfers to the World Cup.
Congratiolation for winning your first WC-Points. First thing I've done after it was to write you're Wikipedia-Article (for the german language version): http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_Studebaker
I am a Boise, Idaho native currently living and training at both the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York and in Anchorage, Alaska. I graduated from Dartmouth College in June 2007 and moved to Lake Placid to begin training as a member of the US Biathlon Team. I made my first Olympic Team in 2010, and placed a season's best 34th in the Individual race. In the 2010-2011 season, I finished a personal-best 14th in the Presque Isle, Maine World Cup and ended the season ranked 34th in the world. In the 2011-2012 season, I had another top finish with a 15th place in the World Cup Sprint in Kontiolahti, Finland. I have been a member of the US World Championship Team for the past 3 years, and as one of the top US women, will again compete on the World Cup circuit in 2013-2014. This year, my goal is to qualify for the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia which will take place in February 2014.
